Kaminsky's big game bests Pickering in 4-1 Wellington win

Jan Kaminsky had one goal and three assists to lead the Wellington Dukes to a 4-1 victory over the Pickering Panthers.

Kaminsky got on the board by slotting home a goal 14:44 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wellington. Josh Finkelstein provided the assist. Kaminsky dished an assist on Kyle Paat's goal that made the score 2-0 Wellington at 49 seconds into the second period. He then added assists on Craig Campbell's goal at 11:36 into the third and on Erick Delaurentis' goal at 19:51 into the third.

Wellington was led by goalie Matt Larose, who finished with 41 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Larose will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.27.

The Dukes forced Pickering goalie Spencer Bacon to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Wellington also got points from Paat, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Wellington were Parker Wood, who had two.

The Panthers' offense rang up 42 shots on Wellington's net.

Pickering was led by Matt Galati, who scored the team's only goal. Galati scored on the power play 2:43 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Wellington. The Panthers had gained a power play chance when Finkelstein was whistled for interference. Andrew McCann assisted on the tally.

The Dukes incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Spencer Bacon made 27 saves for Pickering on 30 shots. The Panthers incurred 36 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Pickering ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and McCann was ejected from the game.
