St. Michaels holds on for 4-3 win against BurlingtonCobourg Community Centre Sat, Oct 13, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The St. Michaels Buzzers survived a determined comeback attempt by the Burlington Cougars on the way to a 4-3 win. St. Michaels took a 4-1 lead during the second period, only to have Burlington storm back on a Joe Sullivan goal 16:53 into the third period to pull to one goal down. Michael Neville was all over the ice for the Buzzers, as he tallied two goals in the win. Neville found the back of the net 8:25 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Michaels and again while on the power play 4:22 into the second to make the score 2-1 St. Michaels. St. Michaels kept the Cougars' goalie busy throughout the game, and Alex Murray made 32 saves on 36 shots. Troy Josephs also scored for St. Michaels. In addition, St. Michaels received assists from Stephen Pietrobon, who had one and Jared Walsh and Matt Buckles, who each chipped in two. Burlington found itself short handed often, totaling 22 penalty minutes and allowing eight power plays. The Cougars were helped by Mark Rodgers, who had one goal. Rodgers scored short handed 4:23 into the third period to make the score 4-2 St. Michaels. A high sticking call on John Najafi put Burlington on the penalty kill. Adam Glynn picked up the assist. Burlington also got a goal from Jeremy Gottzmann as well. Other players who recorded assists for Burlington were Cooper Richards and Alex Landry, who contributed one a piece. Adrian Ignagni made 18 saves for the Buzzers on 21 shots. St. Michaels incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. For the Buzzers, Patrick McCarron was ejected from the game. The Cougars registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
