Mississauga blows out St. Michaels, 8-3

The St. Michaels Buzzers had trouble finding ways to stop the Mississauga Chargers, which beat Buzzers, 8-3.

Ross Sloan had two goals and one assist to lead Mississauga. Sloan scored the first of his two goals short handed at 7:19 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Mississauga. A high sticking call on Jimmy Cusan put the Chargers on the penalty kill. Stefano Alonzi picked up the assist. Sloan's next tally short handed made the score 6-0 Mississauga with 9:34 left in the second period. Nicholas Palumbo provided the assist.

Mississauga made St. Michaels' goaltenders to work without much rest, ripping 33 shots and forcing 25 saves. Adrian Ignagni made 19 stops and George Argiropoulos made six. The Chargers found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Mississauga averages 3.4 goals per contest. Team could not crack the Buzzers' penalty kill and was held to one power play goal while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage.

Mississauga also got points from Alonzi, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Mississauga included A Latina, who had two and Cosimo Fontana, Zackery Landsfield, and Michael Cuddemi, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Mississauga were Will Irons, who had two and Paul Ramieri and Mitchell Mehling, who each chipped in one.

St. Michaels forced the Chargers goalie Austin Washkurak to work between the pipes, taking 52 shots. The Buzzers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game.

St. Michaels was helped by Jake Evans, who finished with one goal and one assist. Evans scored 53 seconds into the third period to make the score 6-2 Mississauga. Stephen Pietrobon assisted on the tally. St. Michaels also got a goal from Michael Neville as well. More assists for St. Michaels came via CJ Shugart, who had one and David Italiano, who had two.

Austin Washkurak made 49 saves for Mississauga on 52 shots. The Chargers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Buzzers registered one goal on five power play opportunities. For St. Michaels, Troy Josephs was ejected from the game.
