Aurora vanquishes Stouffville in shootout, 3-2 (3-2 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Aurora Tigers defeated the Stouffville Spirit in a shootout 3-2 (3-2 SO).

The shootout featured eight attempts between both teams. Stouffville got shootout goals from Alex Botten and Michael Morgan. In addition to the clincher, Aurora got shootout goals from Daniel Lisi and Dylan Wallace.

The Tigers overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Aurora trailed 2-1 after a goal by the Spirit's Joseph Deveny at 16:01 in the second period. The Tigers tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Curtis Warren APJ at 3:27 in the third period.

Aurora excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Tigers kept Stouffville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Knick Dawe made 37 saves on 40 shots.

Aurora was helped by Adam Moody, who registered one goal. Moody scored on the power play 8:01 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Tigers had gotten the advantage when the Spirit's Dawe was sent off for delay of game. Kyle Liu picked up the assist. In addition, Aurora received assists from Trevor Hughson, who had one.

Stouffville's offense rang up 35 shots on Aurora's net.

Jacob Bauchman also scored for Stouffville. Other players who recorded assists for Stouffville were Matthew Dunlop, Mackenzie Wood, and Stefan vonEngelbrechten, who contributed one a piece.

The Tigers' Kevin Entmaa stopped 33 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Aurora incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Spirit incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
