Kennedy's big game bests Cobourg in 5-2 Aurora win

Behind a great game by Kory Kennedy, who had one goal and two assists, the Aurora Tigers defeated the Cobourg Cougars, 5-2.

Kennedy scored on the power play 14:09 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Aurora. Aurora earned a power play opportunity when Rylee McKinnon was put in the box for holding. Kennedy dished an assist on Adam Moody's goal that made the score 4-2 Aurora at 12:15 into the third period. He added another helper on Daniel Clairmont's goal that made the score 5-2 Aurora at 14:13 into the third period.

The Tigers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Aurora additionally got points from Moody, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Clairmont, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Dylan Wallace also scored for Aurora. Other players who recorded assists for Aurora were Tyler Shaw, Alex Mills, Jordan Brown, and Dylan Sikura, who each chipped in one.

Cobourg kept Aurora's goalie busy throughout the game, and Kevin Entmaa made 33 saves on 35 shots. The Cougars' penalty kill unit could not stop the Tigers' power play, which converted on three of four opportunities.

Cobourg was helped by Dalton Bew, who finished with one goal. Bew scored 7:44 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Cobourg. Mitchell Burghardt provided the assist. Cobourg also got a goal from Justin Danforth as well. More assists for Cobourg came via Ryan OGrady and Evan Jasper, who contributed one a piece.

Aurora incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Emerson Verrier rejected 21 shots on goal for the Cougars. Cobourg incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Cougars, Mark MacAulay was ejected from the game.
