St. Michaels beats Mississauga 4-0 as Ignagni gains shutout

Adrian Ignagni was superb between the pipes for the St. Michaels Buzzers, as he did not allow a goal in a 4-0 victory over the Mississauga Chargers.

St. Michaels got the win behind a great game by Jake Evans, who had one goal and two assists. Evans scored 5:10 into the second period to make the score 2-0 St. Michaels. Troy Josephs picked up the assist.

The Buzzers' penalty kill excelled, as St. Michaels gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

The Buzzers stifled Mississauga's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. St. Michaels was steadier on the defensive front than it has been for much of this season. The Buzzers gives up 2.5 goals on average per game. St. Michaels forced the Chargers goalie Alex Lepore to work between the pipes, taking 51 shots.

St. Michaels additionally got points from David Italiano, who also registered one goal and one assist. CJ Shugart also scored for St. Michaels. More assists for St. Michaels came via Stephen Pietrobon, Tom Haley, and Patrick McCarron, who contributed one a piece.

Mississauga's offense operated below it season average. The Chargers average 2.9 goals per game. Mississauga kept the Buzzers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Ignagni made 40 saves on 40 shots.

St. Michaels totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. The Buzzers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Haley was ejected from the game. The Chargers' Lepore stopped 47 shots out of the 51 that he faced. Mississauga ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. For the Chargers, Nick Tetley was ejected from the game.
