Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Aurora Tigers defeated the Cobourg Cougars in a shootout 3-2 (2-1 SO). The shootout lasted for 10 attempts between the teams. Cobourg got a shootout goal from Connor Armour. Aurora also got a shootout goal from Daniel Clairmont.Taylor McCloy had a great game for the Tigers, netting two goals. McCloy scored at 18:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Aurora and again while 10 seconds into the second to make the score 2-0 Aurora. The Cougars' power play was ineffective against Aurora's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The Tigers kept Cobourg's goalie busy throughout the game, and Joe Keyser made 34 saves on 37 shots. Other players who recorded assists for Aurora were Dylan Wallace, who had one and Clairmont, who had two. Aurora was unable to stop the Cougars from sending pucks towards the net, and Cobourg eventually piled up 44 shots on goal. The Cougars were helped by Armour, who tallied one goal and one assist. Armour scored on the power play 3:52 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Aurora. A slashing penalty on Adam Moody had put Cobourg on the power play. Justin Danforth provided the assist. Cobourg additionally got points from Danforth, who also finished with one goal and one assist. In addition, Cobourg received assists from Colbie Andrews, who had two. Brett Sinclair recorded 42 saves for the Tigers. Aurora incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Cougars incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
