Toronto squeaks by Orangeville, 5-3

The game between the Toronto Junior Canadiens and the Orangeville Flyers was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Toronto emerged with a 5-3 win.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Mark Spadafora secured the win for the Junior Canadiens with a goal in the third period.

Daniel Lombardi was all over the ice for Toronto, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Lombardi scored the first of his two goals at 6:16 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Lombardi's next tally made the score 5-3 Toronto with 1:03 left in the third period. Aaron Thow picked up the assist.

The Junior Canadiens' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Orangeville power plays. Toronto forced Orangeville goalie Bo Bessette to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. The Junior Canadiens found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Toronto averages 2.7 goals per contest. The defensemen of the Junior Canadiens were also effective in the Flyers' zone, and came away with three goals.

Toronto additionally got points from Spadafora, who also registered one goal and one assist. Toronto also got a goal from Dalton APM Hnatko as well. More assists for Toronto came via Nicholas Jarzabek, who had two and Adam Logozzo, Anthony Repaci, and Joseph Santino, who each chipped in one.

Orangeville's offense rang up 36 shots on Toronto's net. The Flyers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

Orangeville was helped by Daniel Holt, who tallied one goal. Holt scored 16:01 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Toronto. Jordan Carvalho provided the assist. Kelby Lorenz also scored for Orangeville. Other players who recorded assists for Orangeville were Kyle Thacker, Bryer Lorenz, Michael Capicotto, and James Pitsadiotis, who contributed one a piece.

The Junior Canadiens' Denny Dubblestyne stopped 33 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Toronto incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Bessette recorded 27 saves for the Flyers.
