Huge game by Loiselle boosts St. Michaels over Burlington, 5-2

The St. Michaels Buzzers' Bron Loiselle had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team's 5-2 win over the Burlington Cougars.

Loiselle got on the board by slotting home a power play goal 1:37 into the second period to make the score 2-0 St. Michaels. An interference penalty on Jeremy Gottzmann had put St. Michaels on the power play. Troy Josephs assisted on the tally. Loiselle dished an assist on Stephen Pietrobon's goal that made the score 1-0 St. Michaels at 13:15 into the first period. He added another helper on Ted Hunt's goal that made the score 4-1 St. Michaels at 9:37 into the second period.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 7:34 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Buzzers forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 15 minors and two majors for 70 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 20.0 minutes per game St. Michaels had been spending in the box. The Buzzers made Burlington's netminders to work in net, totaling 43 shots and forcing 38 saves. Brock Novak made 26 stops and Alex Murray made 12.

St. Michaels also got points from Pietrobon, who also registered one goal and one assist. David Italiano also scored for St. Michaels. More assists for St. Michaels came via Mike Lansdowne, Michael Neville, Joseph Berton, and CJ Shugart, who contributed one a piece.

The Cougars were often in penalty trouble, totaling nine minors and two majors for 48 minutes in penalty time. Burlington had been averaging 22.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Cougars' offense rang up 31 shots on St. Michaels' net. Team could not crack the Buzzers' penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having 14 opportunities to play with the man advantage.

Burlington also got a goal from Ellery O Hara as well. Other players who recorded assists for Burlington were Gavin Shantz, Steven Mueller, Joe Sullivan, and Shane Conacher, who each chipped in one.

St. Michaels' Adrian Ignagni stopped 29 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Buzzers registered three goals on six power play opportunities. For St. Michaels, Jake Clements, Jordan Schneider, and Shugart were ejected from the contest. Team's O Hara and Jack OHara were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
