Stouffville wins tough contest against Wellington, 3-2Stouffville Arena Thu, Oct 04, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Stouffville Spirit gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Wellington Dukes. Stouffville gained the winning advantage on a goal by Peyton Backus 19:28 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer. Dylan Savory had one goal and two assists to lead the Spirit. Savory scored 16:16 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Alex Botten picked up the assist. Wellington's power play was ineffective against Stouffville's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The Spirit could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. Michael Morgan also scored for Stouffville. Other players who recorded assists for Stouffville were Joseph Deveny, who had one. The Dukes' offense rang up 32 shots on Stouffville's net. Wellington was helped by Jan Kaminsky, who tallied one goal. Kaminsky scored 18:08 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Erick Delaurentis provided the assist. Wellington also got a goal from Parker Wood as well. More assists for Wellington came via Brody Morris and Mike Soucier, who each chipped in one. Knick Dawe rejected 30 shots on goal for the Spirit. Stouffville registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Hayden Lavigne recorded 21 saves for the Dukes. Wellington incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
