Hamilton erases deficit to stun Mississauga, 5-3

The Mississauga Chargers could not hold down the Hamilton Red Wings, and Red Wings erased a three-goal deficit en route to a 5-3 win.

Hamilton never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Red Wings fell behind 3-0 after a goal by Mississauga's Paul Ramieri at 6:24 in the second period. Hamilton tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Nick Scamurra at 6:14 in the third period. The Red Wings got the game winner on the power play at 10:50 in the third period on a goal by Scamurra.

Luke Laidlaw was all over the ice for Hamilton, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win.

Hamilton additionally got points from Chris Micallef, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Hamilton also got a goal from Troy Crema as well. In addition, Hamilton received assists from Aaron Spivak, Jason OConnor, and Jordan Merante, who each chipped in one and Spencer MacCormack and Adam Brady, who contributed two a piece.

The Chargers' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Mississauga finished with 50 penalty minutes.

The Chargers were helped by Jimmy Cusan, who racked up one goal. Cusan scored on the power play 17:02 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mississauga. A slashing penalty on Jason Pucciarelli had put Mississauga on the power play. Stefano Alonzi assisted on the tally. Trevor Warnaar also scored for Mississauga. Other players who recorded assists for Mississauga were A Latina, Nicholas Palumbo, Nick Tetley, Lucas Venuto, and Ross Sloan, who each chipped in one.

Jason Pucciarelli made 15 saves for the Red Wings on 18 shots. Hamilton incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Red Wings, Crema was ejected from the game. Austin Washkurak rejected 24 shots on goal for the Chargers. Mississauga registered two goals on four power play opportunities.
