Buffalo wins tough contest against Hamilton, 3-2Northtown Feature Sun, Sep 30, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Buffalo Jr. Sabres escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Hamilton Red Wings. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Josh Kielich's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Buffalo was led by Kielich, who registered one goal. Kielich scored 17:46 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Buffalo. Dylan Howatt provided the assist. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 6:19 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Jr. Sabres forced Hamilton goalie Jason Pucciarelli to work between the pipes, taking 45 shots. Buffalo also got a goal from Tyler Gjurich as well. Other players who recorded assists for Buffalo were Max Mikowski, Nathan Pelligra, and Sean Federow, who each chipped in one. The Red Wings' offense rang up 33 shots on Buffalo's net. Hamilton was helped by Niko Porikos, who racked up one goal. Porikos scored 3:48 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Buffalo. Troy Crema assisted on the tally. Aaron Spivak also scored for Hamilton. More assists for Hamilton came via Adam Brady, Joey Benitah, and Nick Scamurra, who contributed one a piece. Parker Gahagen recorded 31 saves for the Jr. Sabres. Buffalo totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. The Jr. Sabres ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Derek Patterson was ejected from the game. Jason Pucciarelli made 42 saves for the Red Wings on 45 shots. Hamilton totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. For the Red Wings, Benitah was ejected from the game.
