Georgetown survives Oakville comeback, wins 3-2

The Oakville Blades tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Georgetown Raiders held on for a 3-2 victory.

Georgetown made the score 3-1 on a goal by Robbie Murden at 16:47 in the third period, and Oakville got as close as 3-2 when Spencer Green scored 18:08 into the third period.

The Raiders' penalty kill excelled, as Georgetown gave up one goal despite allowing nine power plays.

The Raiders kept the Blades' goalie busy throughout the game, and Evan Buitenhuis made 28 saves on 31 shots. Georgetown could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

Tyler MacPherson also scored for Georgetown. In addition, Georgetown received assists from Alex Adams, Santino Centorame, Michael Stevens, and CJ Stellato, who contributed one a piece.

Oakville did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Blades put an average of 4.5 pucks into the net per game. Oakville forced the Raiders goalie Daniel Mannella to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Other players who recorded assists for Oakville were Aidan Orbinski, Nathan Renouf, Jonah Renouf, and Sean Perichak, who each chipped in one.

Daniel Mannella made 33 saves for Georgetown on 35 shots. The Raiders registered one goal on four power play opportunities. The Blades incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
