GAME RECAP

Minello leads Trenton over Aurora, 5-1

Duncan Memorial    Fri, Sep 28, 2012

The Trenton Golden Hawks' Jordan Minello had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-1 win over the Aurora Tigers.

Minello scored at 13:03 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 5:44 into the second to make the score 2-1 Trenton.

Aurora was stymied by Trenton netminder Brendan O'Neill (APJ), who stopped 36 shots during the victory. The solid play of O'Neill (APJ) will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.53.

The Tigers' power play was ineffective against the Golden Hawks' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Trenton stifled Aurora's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Golden Hawks forced the Tigers goalie Kevin Entmaa to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. Trenton was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 30 penalty minutes.

Shawn Hulshof also scored for Trenton. Other players who recorded assists for Trenton were Mike Nedoszytko, Brandon Scott, and Ryan Johnson, who each chipped in one and Josh Timpano, Erlich Doerksen, and Alex Leader, who contributed two a piece.

Aurora's offense rang up 37 shots on the Golden Hawks' net.

The Tigers were led by Mike Sones, who scored the team's only goal. Sones scored 2:37 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Aurora. Dylan Sikura picked up the assist.

Trenton registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Entmaa rejected 32 shots on goal for Aurora. The Tigers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
