Wellington downs Cobourg in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Wellington Dukes pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Cobourg Cougars on a clutch goal by Brody Morris.

Erick Delaurentis had a great game for Wellington, netting two goals. Delaurentis' tallies came at 10:23 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Wellington and 12:07 into the third to make the score 3-3.

The Dukes forced Cougars' goalies to work without much rest, getting 31 shots and forcing 27 saves. Cole Mahoney APM made 20 stops and Joe Keyser made seven. Wellington's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Cobourg power plays. The defensemen of the Dukes were also effective in Cobourg's zone, and came away with two goals.

Wellington also got points from Josh Finkelstein, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Wellington were Craig Campbell, Parker Wood, Mike Soucier, Abbot Girduckis, and Joe McKeown, who each chipped in one.

The Cougars excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Cobourg was helped by Loren Ulett, who racked up one goal. Ulett scored 13:13 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Mitchell Burghardt provided the assist. Cobourg additionally got points from Colbie Andrews, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Justin Danforth also scored for Cobourg. More assists for Cobourg came via Ryan OGrady, who had one.

Hayden Lavigne rejected 25 shots on goal for Wellington. The Dukes incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Cougars incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
