Aurora squeaks by Wellington, 4-2Wellington CC Sun, Sep 23, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Aurora Tigers and the Wellington Dukes was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Aurora emerged with a 4-2 win. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Mike Sones' goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Daniel Clairmont had one goal and two assists to lead the Tigers. Clairmont scored 8:14 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Aurora. Kyle Liu picked up the assist. Aurora put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Wellington to score on any of its three power plays. Aurora also got points from Dylan Sikura, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Aurora also got a goal from Dylan Wallace as well. In addition, Aurora received assists from Tyler Shaw, Tanner Shaw, and Kevin Shier, who each chipped in one. The Dukes excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Wellington forced the Tigers goalie Brett Sinclair to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. The Dukes were helped by Jan Kaminsky, who finished with one goal. Kaminsky scored short handed 13:51 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Wellington. Wellington was on a disadvantage when Austin Broadhurst went off the ice for interference. Craig Campbell assisted on the tally. Cam Nicoll also scored for Wellington. Other players who recorded assists for Wellington were Luc Brown and Joe McKeown, who contributed one a piece. Brett Sinclair made 33 saves for Aurora on 35 shots. The Tigers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Hayden Lavigne rejected 26 shots on goal for the Dukes. Wellington incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
