The Burlington Cougars beat the St. Michaels Buzzers, 5-3, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

Jeremy Gottzmann was all over the ice for the Cougars, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Gottzmann scored the first of his two goals at 12:14 into the first period to make the score 2-1 St. Michaels. Ellery O Hara picked up the assist. Gottzmann's next tally made the score 4-2 Burlington with 1:05 left in the first period. Steven Mueller assisted on the tally.

Burlington kept St. Michaels' goalie busy throughout the game, and Adrian Ignagni made 28 saves on 33 shots.

Burlington additionally got points from Mueller, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Burlington also got a goal from Brett Coulson as well. In addition, Burlington received assists from Tyler Mayea, who had two and Gavin Shantz, Mark Rodgers, Michael Courvouisier, and Adam Glynn, who contributed one a piece.

The Buzzers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Cougars were unable to stop St. Michaels from sending pucks towards the net, and the Buzzers eventually piled up 43 shots on goal.

St. Michaels was helped by Bron Loiselle, who registered one goal. Loiselle scored 1:12 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Michaels. Matt Buckles provided the assist. St. Michaels also got points from Troy Josephs, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Ian Edmondson also scored for St. Michaels. Other players who recorded assists for St. Michaels were Jordan Schneider, Stephen Pietrobon, David Italiano, and Joseph Berton, who each chipped in one.

Brock Novak recorded 40 saves for Burlington. The Cougars incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Buzzers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
