The Burlington Cougars beat the St. Michaels Buzzers, 5-3, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout. Burlington took over the lead for good with a goal by Tyler VanKleef at 13:48 in the first period. Shane Conacher assisted on the tally.Jeremy Gottzmann was all over the ice for the Cougars, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Gottzmann scored the first of his two goals at 12:14 into the first period to make the score 2-1 St. Michaels. Ellery O Hara picked up the assist. Gottzmann's next tally made the score 4-2 Burlington with 1:05 left in the first period. Steven Mueller assisted on the tally. Burlington kept St. Michaels' goalie busy throughout the game, and Adrian Ignagni made 28 saves on 33 shots. St. Michaels also got points from Troy Josephs, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Ian Edmondson also scored for St. Michaels.
