Savory's hat trick boosts Stouffville over Cobourg, 4-2

Dylan Savory lifted the Stouffville Spirit to a 4-2 victory with a hat trick against the Cobourg Cougars.

Savory notched his first tally 3:52 into the second period. He then added goals at 19:42 into the second and at 19:28 into the third.

Stouffville stifled Cobourg's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Spirit kept the Cougars' goalie busy throughout the game, and Joe Keyser made 29 saves on 33 shots.

Stouffville additionally got points from Peyton Backus, who also tallied one goal and one assist. More assists for Stouffville came via Stefan vonEngelbrechten, who had one, Matthew Heffernan, who had two, and Alex Botten, who had three.

Cobourg's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Stouffville power plays.

The Cougars were helped by Kyle Fink, who had one goal. Fink scored 8:07 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Stouffville. Matt Martin picked up the assist. Cobourg also got a goal from Evan Jasper as well. In addition, Cobourg received assists from Ryan OGrady, Justin Danforth, and Dalton Bew, who each chipped in one.

Braydon Banitsiotis rejected 27 shots on goal for Stouffville. The Spirit incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Cobourg totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play. The Cougars ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Loren Ulett was ejected from the game.
