GAME RECAP

Kingston vanquishes Aurora in shootout, 2-1 (2-1 SO)

INVISTA Center    Thu, Sep 20, 2012

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Kingston Voyageurs defeated the Aurora Tigers in a shootout 2-1 (2-1 SO).

The shootout lasted for five attempts between the teams. Aurora's shootout goal was scored by Robert Angiolella. Kingston's other shootout goal was scored by Alex Tonge.

The Voyageurs overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Kingston fell behind 1-0 after a goal by the Tigers' Nick Izgerean at 17:38 in the second period. The Voyageurs tied things up at 1-1 on a goal by Brett Du Puy at 5:59 in the third period.

Aurora was stymied by Kingston netminder Charlie Finn, who stopped 31 shots during the victory. The solid play of Finn will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.86.

The Voyageurs kept the Tigers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brett Sinclair made 31 saves on 33 shots.

More assists for Kingston came via Scott Mossman and Brandon Wolframe, who each chipped in one.

Aurora stifled Kingston's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Voyageurs were unable to stop the Tigers from sending pucks towards the net, and Aurora eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

In addition, Aurora received assists from Dylan Wallace and Kory Kennedy, who contributed one a piece.

Kingston incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Tigers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For Aurora, Trevor Hughson was ejected from the game.
