Trenton survives Cobourg comeback, wins 5-3Cobourg Community Centre Mon, Sep 17, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Trenton Golden Hawks came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Cobourg Cougars, but did just enough to escape with a 5-3 victory. Trenton led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Golden Hawks' Josh Timpano's scored at 1:04 in the second period to put Trenton up 4-1. Andrew Parks had one goal and two assists to lead the Golden Hawks. Parks scored 17:20 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Trenton. Timpano picked up the assist. Trenton pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 24 penalty minutes. Trenton also got points from Timpano, who also had one goal and two assists, Brandon Scott, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Sammy Banga, who also registered one goal and one assist. Conor Carson also scored for Trenton. More assists for Trenton came via Mackenzie Scott, who had two. Cobourg forced the Golden Hawks goalie Andrew Winsor to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. The Cougars were helped by Taylor Gauld, who grabbed one goal. Gauld scored 12:12 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Trenton. Corey Helliwell provided the assist. Cobourg additionally got points from Helliwell, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Cobourg also got a goal from Connor Armour as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cobourg were Cody Mintz, Brodie Myers, Justin Danforth, and Loren Ulett, who contributed one a piece. Winsor rejected 33 shots on goal for Trenton. The Golden Hawks registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Cobourg's Joe Keyser stopped 20 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Cougars incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
