Mississauga falls apart in second, loses to Georgetown, 5-1Port Credit Arena Mon, Sep 17, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Mississauga Chargers was within striking distance after one period, but the Georgetown Raiders put the pedal down in the second en route to a 5-1 victory. Brendan Woods had a great game for Georgetown, netting two goals. Woods scored on the power play at 4:21 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Georgetown and again while 10:37 into the second to make the score 3-0 Georgetown. The Raiders forced the Chargers goalie Alex Lepore to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. Georgetown also had goals scored by Robbie Murden, who had one and David Miller, who had two. In addition, Georgetown received assists from Thomas Welsh, Jake Emilio, Santino Centorame, and Nicholas Dozzi, who each chipped in one and Nick Perruccio and Drake Hart, who contributed two a piece. The Mississauga penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 19.0 minutes per game the Chargers had been spending in the box. Mississauga could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Chargers average 3.3 goals per game. Georgetown's Daniel Mannella stopped 20 shots out of the 21 that he faced. The Raiders registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. Georgetown ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Riley Dunda was ejected from the game. Lepore rejected 32 shots on goal for Mississauga. For the Chargers, Ross Sloan was ejected from the game.
