Kingston squeaks by Whitby, 4-2Iroquois - Rink#1 Sun, Sep 16, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Kingston Voyageurs and the Whitby Fury was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Kingston emerged with a 4-2 win. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Greg Trichilo secured the win for the Voyageurs with a goal in the second period. Kingston was sparked by Francesco Vilardi, who tallied one goal. Vilardi scored on the power play 19:18 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Kingston. The Voyageurs had gained a power play chance when Chris Raguseo was whistled for slashing. Chad Duchesne provided the assist. Kingston additionally got points from Brian Nanne, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Graham Yeo, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Kingston received assists from Tyler McCarthy, who had two and Brandon O Quinn, Brett Seney, and Ludlow Harris, who each chipped in one. Kingston was unable to stop Whitby from sending pucks towards the net, and the Fury eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. Whitby was helped by Steven Deeg, who racked up one goal. Deeg scored on the power play 18:16 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Kingston. A high sticking penalty on Blake ONeill had put the Fury on the power play. Sam Gray assisted on the tally. Whitby also got a goal from Matt Davis as well. Charlie Finn rejected 33 shots on goal for the Voyageurs. Kingston totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. The Voyageurs ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Harris was ejected from the game. Whitby's Tyler Feaver stopped 24 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Fury incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For Whitby, Kevin Stevens was ejected from the game.
