The North York Rangers jumped out to a four-point advantage by the end of the first period and beat the Toronto Junior Canadiens, 8-2. Taylor Pryce had a great game for North York, netting two goals. Pryce found the back of the net on the power play 1:47 into the first period to make the score 1-0 North York and again while 15:46 into the first to make the score 5-0 North York. Toronto's power play was ineffective against the Rangers' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. North York made Junior Canadiens' goaltenders to work without much rest, totaling 35 shots and forcing 27 saves. Denny Dubblestyne made four stops and Nathan Colitto made 23. The Rangers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. North York has scored at the pace of 5.0 goals per game during the current campaign. The Rangers were ineffective while on the power play, as they were held to two goals off of nine man advantages. North York's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Rangers finished with 24 penalty minutes. North York additionally got points from Ryan Kinsella, who also finished with one goal and two assists and Corey Kalk, who also registered one goal and two assists. North York also got a goal from Power Brody as well. In addition, North York received assists from Fung Zachary, Michael Giacometti, and Matthew Whittaker, who contributed one a piece and Patrick Piacentini and John Carpino, who each chipped in two. The Junior Canadiens could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 22 minutes in penalties during the game. Allen Avery made 19 saves for North York on 21 shots.
