Wellington rips Whitby, 4-1

The Whitby Fury had trouble finding ways to stop the Wellington Dukes, which beat Fury, 4-1.

Wellington was led by goalie Hayden Lavigne, who finished with 37 saves while allowing one goal. Despite the solid performance, Lavigne will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 1.0 entering the contest.

The Dukes were paced by Evan Erickson, who had one goal. Erickson scored 8:46 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Wellington. Mike Soucier provided the assist.

Wellington excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Wellington additionally got points from Jan Kaminsky, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Wellington also got a goal from Craig Campbell as well. In addition, Wellington received assists from Parker Wood, who had two and Kyle Paat, Erick Delaurentis, Cam Nicoll, and Guillaume Naud, who each chipped in one.

Whitby could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Fury put an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game. Whitby forced the Dukes goalie Lavigne to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

The Fury were led by Steven Deeg, who scored the team's only goal. Deeg scored 15:43 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Wellington. Henry Thompson picked up the assist.

Wellington incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Tyler Feaver rejected 22 shots on goal for Whitby. The Fury incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
