Kingston outlasts Cobourg, 5-3

The game between the Kingston Voyageurs and the Cobourg Cougars was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Kingston emerged with a 5-3 win.

The Voyageurs gained the winning advantage on a goal by Alex Tonge 5:29 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

Graham Yeo was all over the ice for Kingston, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Yeo scored 19:56 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Kingston.

The Voyageurs' penalty kill excelled, as Kingston gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Cobourg was unable to stop the Voyageurs from sending pucks towards the net, and Kingston eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

Kingston also got points from Brian Nanne, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Ludlow Harris, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Kingston also got a goal from Brett Seney as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kingston were Blake O`Neill, Brandon O Quinn, and Michael Casale, who each chipped in one.

The Cougars forced the Voyageurs goalie Charlie Finn to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Cobourg was led by Evan Jasper, who registered two goals. Jasper scored the first of his two goals at 3:18 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cobourg. Corey Helliwell assisted on the tally. Jasper's next tally made the score 4-3 Kingston with 10:27 left in the third period. The Cougars had taken the advantage when Kingston's O Quinn got sent off for slashing. Justin Danforth picked up the assist. Loren Ulett also scored for Cobourg. More assists for Cobourg came via Dylan Goddard, who had two.

Charlie Finn made 30 saves for the Voyageurs on 33 shots. Kingston incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Joe Keyser rejected 35 shots on goal for Cobourg. The Cougars incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
