Orangeville vanquishes Milton in shootout, 5-4 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Orangeville Flyers defeated the Milton Icehawks in a shootout 5-4 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured six attempts between both teams. Milton got a shootout goal from Jonathon Buttitta. Orangeville's other shootout goal was scored by Kelby Lorenz.

The Flyers came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Orangeville trailed 2-0 after a goal by the Icehawks' Buttitta at 12:45 in the second period. The Flyers knotted things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by James Pitsadiotis at 16:16 in the third period.

Orangeville got the win with help from a great game by Keegan Ackerland, who had one goal and two assists. Ackerland scored short handed 14:38 into the second period to make the score 2-2. The Flyers played down a man on Jordan Carvalho's goalie interference. Blake Forslund picked up the assist.

Orangeville stifled Milton's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Flyers' offense rang up 52 shots on the Icehawks' net.

Orangeville additionally got points from Forslund, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Mathew Thompson also scored for Orangeville. In addition, Orangeville received assists from Bryer Lorenz, who had one.

Orangeville was unable to stop Milton from sending pucks towards the net, and the Icehawks eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

Milton was helped by Joshua Decosta, who racked up one goal. Decosta scored 19:09 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Jake Baird assisted on the tally. Milton also got points from Buttitta, who also had one goal and one assist and Charles Williams, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Milton also got a goal from Wil Pointon as well. More assists for Milton came via Tyler Burns, Bryce Abraham, and Ryan Burns, who contributed one a piece.

The Flyers' Taylor Welsh stopped 35 shots out of the 39 that he faced. Orangeville incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Andre Keire made 47 saves for the Icehawks on 51 shots. Milton incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
