Salvis' hat trick boosts Pensacola over Columbus, 4-2Pensacola Bay Center Tue, Mar 19, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
A hat trick by Ryan Salvis was the highlight in Ice Flyers' 4-2 win against the Columbus Cottonmouths. Salvis notched his first tally 11:24 into the first period. He then added goals at 14:46 into the first and at 19:26 into the third.The Pensacola Ice Flyers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Columbus to score on any of its five power plays. With 34 shots on target during the contest, Pensacola exceeded the 23.1 shots it averages per game this year. Pensacola also got a goal from Dan Buccella as well. More assists for Pensacola came via Pat Knowlton, who had two and Jordan Chong and Kevin Kozlowski, who contributed one a piece. By firing 26 shots on goal, the Cottonmouths exceeded the 22.3 shots they average per game this year. Columbus was helped by Derek Pallardy, who tallied one goal. Pallardy scored 1:11 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Pensacola. Sam Bowles picked up the assist. Jordan Braid also scored for Columbus. Other players who recorded assists for Columbus were John Sullivan and Matt Gingera, who each chipped in one. Gerry Festa rejected 24 shots on goal for the Ice Flyers. Pensacola incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Cottonmouths' starting goalie, Ian Vigier, made three saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Andrew Loewen, who stopped 27 shots. Columbus incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. |
