Mark Versteeg-Lytwyn scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and Mississippi Surge picked up the extra point in a 4-3 (1-0 SO) win over the Louisiana IceGators. The shootout lasted for nine attempts between the teams.Mississippi Surge saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Mississippi Surge made the score 3-1 on a goal by Adam Stuart at 19:05 in the first period. Louisiana evened things up at 3-3 on a goal by Kirk Byczynski at 7:31 in the third period. Mississippi Surge was led by Stuart, who registered one goal and one assist. The 34 shots that Mississippi Surge put on net surpassed Mississippi Surge's average of 19.6 shots per game this season. Mississippi Surge also got points from Kyle Kudroch, who also had one goal and one assist. Joe Harcharik also scored for Mississippi Surge. In addition, Mississippi Surge received assists from Matt Gordon, Jarkko Leppanen, and Matt Ridley, who contributed one a piece.
