Pensacola rips Louisiana, 4-1

The Louisiana IceGators had trouble finding ways to stop the Pensacola Ice Flyers, which beat IceGators, 4-1.

Pensacola was led by goalie Gerry Festa, who finished with 35 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Festa will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.72.

The Ice Flyers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Louisiana power plays. Pensacola's offense was clicking better than usual and put 28 shots on goal during the game, better than the 21.7 shots per game it averages.

The Ice Flyers were led by Jordan Chong, who finished with two goals. Chong scored the first of his two goals at 59 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-0 Pensacola. Chong's next tally made the score 4-0 Pensacola with 10:14 left in the third period. Pensacola played down a man on Tyler Soehner's delay of game. Steve Bergin assisted on the tally. Mike MacIntyre also scored for Pensacola. In addition, Pensacola received assists from Justin MacDonald, Brent Clarke, and Justin Alonzo, who contributed one a piece.

Louisiana was held below its usual level of production. The IceGators average 3.2 goals per game. Louisiana's offense rang up 36 shots on the Ice Flyers' net.

The IceGators were led by Troy Ofukany, who took one shot.

Pensacola totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Louisiana's Breton Lindoff stopped 24 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The IceGators ended with nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major.
