Louisiana outlasts Knoxville, 4-2

The game between the Louisiana IceGators and the Knoxville Ice Bears was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Louisiana emerged with a 4-2 win.

The IceGators gained the winning advantage on a goal by Kirk Byczynski 8:41 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

Louisiana was paced by Tyler Lyon, who had one goal. Lyon scored 10:53 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Louisiana. Troy Ofukany provided the assist.

The IceGators put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Knoxville to score on any of its four power plays. Louisiana got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Jeremey Boyer also scored for Louisiana. In addition, Louisiana received assists from Clark Byczynski, Shawn McNeil, Robert Short, and Cody Zubko, who each chipped in one.

The Ice Bears were led by Eric Satim, who tallied one goal and one assist. Satim scored 8:01 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Louisiana. Brendan Taylor assisted on the tally. Knoxville also got a goal from Jeremy Klaver as well. Other players who recorded assists for Knoxville were Peter Neal, who had one.

Breton Lindoff recorded 25 saves for the IceGators. Louisiana incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Bryan Hince made 17 saves for Knoxville on 21 shots. The Ice Bears incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
