Augusta's comeback falls short, Knoxville wins 4-2Augusta Ice Center Sun, Mar 10, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Knoxville Ice Bears, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Knoxville and clinched a 4-2 victory. The Ice Bears led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Knoxville's Brett Valliquette's scored at 13:43 in the second period to put the Ice Bears up 3-0. Matt Pierce was all over the ice for Knoxville, as he registered two goals in the win. With 31 shots on target during the contest, the Augusta RiverHawks exceeded the 18.3 shots they average per game this year. Augusta was helped by Marcus Pryde, who registered one goal. Curtis Megginson picked up the assist. Kyle Watson also scored for Augusta. Other players who recorded assists for Augusta were Jason Price, Casey Mignone, and Matt Auffrey, who each chipped in one. The Ice Bears' Connor Toomey stopped 29 shots out of the 31 that he faced. Knoxville registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Robbie Moss made 18 saves for Augusta on 22 shots. The RiverHawks totaled 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors and went 2-for-5 on the power play.
