Louisiana downs Knoxville, 5-2

Shawn McNeil racked up two points to lead the Louisiana IceGators to a 5-2 victory over the Knoxville Ice Bears.

Louisiana's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Louisiana additionally got points from Matthew Robertson, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Kirk Byczynski, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Louisiana also got a goal from Clark Byczynski as well. In addition, Louisiana received assists from Marc Andre Carre, Robert Short, and Cody Zubko, who contributed one a piece.

Knoxville racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 19.0 minutes per game the Ice Bears had been spending in the box. With 25 shots on target during the contest, Knoxville exceeded the 22.0 shots it averages per game this year.

The Ice Bears were helped by Peter Neal, who grabbed one goal. Neal scored 17:27 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Nate Peterson assisted on the tally. Brendan Taylor also scored for Knoxville. Other players who recorded assists for Knoxville were Shaun Arvai, Jeremy Klaver, and David Segal, who each chipped in one.

The IceGators' Breton Lindoff stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Louisiana totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. Bryan Hince rejected 16 shots on goal for Knoxville. The Ice Bears registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
