Knoxville rips Louisiana, 6-1

The Knoxville Ice Bears had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-1 win over the Louisiana IceGators.

Knoxville was led by Matt Pierce, who had one goal. Pierce scored 10:32 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Knoxville. David Segal picked up the assist.

The Ice Bears put 29 shots on net during the contest, more than the 22.0 they average per game. Knoxville bested its season scoring average. This season, the Ice Bears average 3.2 goals per contest. Knoxville's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Knoxville additionally got points from Emery Olauson, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Segal, who also registered one goal and one assist. Knoxville also got a goal from Brad Pawlowski as well. More assists for Knoxville came via Shaun Arvai, Peter Neal, and Dan Bremner, who contributed one a piece and Brendan Taylor, Jeremy Klaver, and Brett Valliquette, who each chipped in two.

Louisiana could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The IceGators average 3.2 goals per game.

Louisiana was led by Robert Short, who scored the team's only goal. Short scored 11:35 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Knoxville.

Bryan Hince took the win and made 20 saves before being replaced by Connor Toomey who made two saves. The Ice Bears totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. The IceGators' starting goalie, Mike Dilorenzo, made seven saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Breton Lindoff, who stopped 16 shots. Louisiana totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
