Augusta survives Huntsville comeback, wins 5-3

The Huntsville Havoc almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Augusta RiverHawks managed to pull out a 5-3 win in the end.

Augusta led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the RiverHawks' Matt Auffrey's scored at 8:00 in the third period to put Augusta up 4-1.

Kyle Watson was all over the ice for the RiverHawks, as he tallied one goal and three assists in the win. Watson scored on the power play 16:25 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Augusta. Augusta earned a power play opportunity when Corey Fulton was put in the box for boarding. Alex Morton picked up the assist.

The RiverHawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Huntsville power plays. With 21 shots on target during the contest, Augusta exceeded the 17.1 shots it averages per game this year. The RiverHawks bested their season scoring average. This season, Augusta averages 2.6 goals per contest.

Augusta also got a goal from Jason Price as well. Other players who recorded assists for Augusta were Drew Baker and Robbie Moss, who each chipped in one.

By firing 35 shots on goal, Huntsville exceeded the 19.5 shots it averages per game this year.

The Havoc were led by Aaron McGill, who had one goal and one assist. McGill scored 16:15 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Augusta. Paul DAgostino provided the assist. Danny Kaufmann also scored for Huntsville. In addition, Huntsville received assists from Mike Gurtler, who had one and Nick Lazorko, who had two.

Moss recorded 32 saves for the RiverHawks. Augusta incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Huntsville's Dan McWhinney stopped 16 shots out of the 20 that he faced. The Havoc ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major.
