The Columbus Cottonmouths tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but Mississippi Surge would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2.

A goal by Adam Stuart put Mississippi Surge up 4-1 in the third period, but Columbus pulled to within two on Jason Yuel's tally 19:55 into the third period.

Mississippi Surge was paced by Branden Kosolofsky, who had one goal and one assist. Kosolofsky scored 16:10 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Mississippi Surge. Joe Harcharik picked up the assist.

Mississippi Surge forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and two majors for 32 minutes in penalty time.
