Knoxville survives Augusta comeback, wins 4-3Augusta Ice Center Tue, Mar 05, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Knoxville Ice Bears came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Augusta RiverHawks, but did just enough to escape with a 4-3 victory. Knoxville led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Ice Bears' Peter Neal's scored at 4:38 in the second period to put Knoxville up 3-0. Brendan Taylor was all over the ice for the Ice Bears, as he registered two goals in the win. Taylor scored on the power play at 2:58 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Knoxville and again while 12:15 into the third to make the score 4-3 Knoxville. Knoxville's offense was clicking better than usual and put 35 shots on goal during the game, better than the 22.0 shots per game it averages. Knoxville additionally got points from David Segal, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Knoxville were Brad Pawlowski, who had two, Emery Olauson, who had three, and Jeremy Klaver and Ben Souders, who contributed one a piece. With 22 shots on target during the contest, Augusta exceeded the 17.2 shots it averages per game this year. The RiverHawks were led by Alex Morton, who finished with one goal and one assist. Morton scored on the power play 6:02 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Augusta had taken the advantage when the Ice Bears' Brett Valliquette got sent off for high sticking. Jason Price assisted on the tally. Augusta also got a goal from Curtis Megginson as well. In addition, Augusta received assists from Drew Baker, Jesse Echternach, and Marcus Pryde, who each chipped in one. Connor Toomey rejected 19 shots on goal for Knoxville. The Ice Bears totaled 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 2-for-5 on the power play. Robbie Moss recorded 31 saves for the RiverHawks. Augusta totaled 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors and two majors and went 1-for-4 on the power play. |
