Knoxville boosted by Hince's play in net, beats Huntsville 5-1Breland Homes Ice Fri, Feb 22, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
A stellar performance between the pipes by Bryan Hince helped the Knoxville Ice Bears defeat the Huntsville Havoc, 5-1. Knoxville was paced by Mark Van Vliet, who had one goal. Van Vliet scored 14:16 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Knoxville. Kevin Flather picked up the assist. The Ice Bears' offense was clicking better than usual and put 28 shots on goal during the game, better than the 24.8 shots per game they average. Knoxville additionally got points from Eric Satim, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Knoxville also had goals scored by Dan Bremner, who had one and Matt Pierce, who had two. In addition, Knoxville received assists from Shaun Arvai, who had two and Brendan Taylor, Peter Neal, and David Segal, who each chipped in one. By firing 29 shots on goal, Huntsville exceeded the 20.4 shots it averages per game this year. The Havoc were led by Brent Tamane, who took three shots. Knoxville's Hince stopped 28 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Ice Bears totaled 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Dan McWhinney made 23 saves for Huntsville on 28 shots. The Havoc totaled 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors and two majors and went 1-for-4 on the power play.
