Augusta rolls over Pensacola, 4-1Phoenix Refrigeration Ice Sat, Feb 16, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Augusta RiverHawks had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over the Pensacola Ice Flyers. Pensacola was stymied by Augusta netminder Robbie Moss, who stopped 25 shots during the victory. Moss certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.64 entering the contest. The RiverHawks were sparked by Taylor McReynolds, who registered one goal and one assist. McReynolds scored on the power play 10:57 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Augusta. Augusta had taken the advantage when the Ice Flyers' Mark Pawlowski got sent off for cross checking. Casey Mignone provided the assist. The RiverHawks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The 31 shots that Augusta put on net surpassed the RiverHawks' average of 15.3 shots per game this season. Others who scored for Augusta included Kyle Watson, who had one and Jesse Echternach, who had two. More assists for Augusta came via Michael Switzer, Luke Frey, and Taylor Larsen, who contributed one a piece. Pensacola's offense was clicking better than usual and put 26 shots on goal during the game, better than the 21.6 shots per game it averages. The defense for the Ice Flyers played an important role offensively, racking up 11 shots on goal. Pensacola was led by Jeremiah Ketts, who scored the team's only goal. Ketts scored 14:48 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Augusta. Justin MacDonald assisted on the tally. Augusta totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. Gerry Festa made 27 saves for the Ice Flyers on 31 shots. Pensacola ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major.
