McQuade leads Fayetteville over Knoxville, 4-1

Josh McQuade was all over the ice for the Fayetteville FireAntz, as he tallied one goal and three assists in Fayetteville's 4-1 win over the Knoxville Ice Bears.

McQuade beat Bryan Hince with a shot 5:18 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Brock Sawyer assisted on the tally. McQuade dished an assist on Bobby Reed's goal that made the score 2-1 Fayetteville at 1:06 into the third period. He then added assists on Kyle Frieday's goal at 6:31 into the third and on Mike Gurtler's goal at 15:23 into the third.

The FireAntz were led by goalie Marco Emond, who finished with 34 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Emond will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.33.

By firing 34 shots on goal, Fayetteville exceeded the 29.1 shots it averages per game this year.

In addition, Fayetteville received assists from Derek Elliott, who had one and Mike Kavanagh, who had two.

Knoxville did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Ice Bears put an average of 3.1 pucks into the net per game. Knoxville's offense rang up 35 shots on the FireAntz's net.

The Ice Bears were led by Brett Valliquette, who scored the team's only goal. Valliquette scored on the power play 4:00 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Knoxville. Knoxville earned a power play opportunity when Reed was put in the box for hooking. Tyler Fernandez picked up the assist.

Fayetteville incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Hince recorded 30 saves for the Ice Bears. Knoxville incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
