Pensacola outlasts Knoxville, 3-2

The Pensacola Ice Flyers gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Knoxville Ice Bears.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Brent Clarke's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Pensacola was sparked by Clarke, who had one goal. Clarke scored on the power play 16:29 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Pensacola. The Ice Flyers earned a power play opportunity when Tyler Fernandez was put in the box for interference. Jeremiah Ketts assisted on the tally.

Pensacola also got points from Ryan Salvis, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Pensacola also got a goal from Ryan Raven as well. In addition, Pensacola received assists from Jordan Chong, who had two and Ron Cramer and Steve Bergin, who each chipped in one.

Knoxville kept Pensacola's goalie busy throughout the game, and Ross MacKinnon made 30 saves on 32 shots.

The Ice Bears were helped by David Segal, who finished with one goal. Segal scored on the power play 13:33 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Knoxville had gotten the advantage when the Ice Flyers' Ryan Ramage was sent off for interference. Eric Satim provided the assist. Brett Valliquette also scored for Knoxville. More assists for Knoxville came via Emery Olauson, who had one and Mark Van Vliet, who had two.

Pensacola totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. The Ice Bears' Bryan Hince stopped 19 shots out of the 22 that he faced. Knoxville totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-8 on the power play.
