Dustin Carlson made 35 saves to complete the shutout and led the Louisiana IceGators to a 3-0 win against the Huntsville Havoc. Louisiana was sparked by Kevin Brojek, who grabbed one goal. Brojek scored on the power play 7:42 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Louisiana. The IceGators earned a power play opportunity when Brett Liscomb was put in the box for interference. Jeremey Boyer picked up the assist. Louisiana was often in penalty trouble, totaling nine minors and one major for 33 minutes in penalty time. The IceGators had been averaging 19.0 minutes in penalties per game. Louisiana stifled Huntsville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The IceGators' defensive play was more effective than usual against the Havoc. Louisiana averages 2.7 goals allowed per game. The IceGators put 25 shots on net during the contest, more than the 21.0 they average per game. Louisiana also got points from Shawn McNeil, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Boyer, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Louisiana were Matthew Robertson and Matt Miller, who each chipped in one. Huntsville racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with nine minors and two majors for 48 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 27.0 minutes per game the Havoc had been spending in the box. Huntsville could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Havoc put an average of 2.4 pucks into the net per game. Huntsville relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Kyle Laughlin, Nick Lazorko and Stuart Stefan took 18 of the team's 35 shots. Louisiana registered two goals on six power play opportunities. The Havoc's Dan McWhinney stopped 22 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Huntsville registered zero goals on five power play opportunities.
