Mississippi RiverKings falls to Pensacola in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Pensacola Ice Flyers' Steve Bergin scored 1:55 into overtime to beat Mississippi RiverKings, 3-2 (OT).

Pensacola nearly gave up a two-score lead. The Ice Flyers made the score 2-0 on a power play goal by Jordan Chong at 3:11 in the third period. Mississippi RiverKings got to within 2-1 on a goal by Matt Harrington at 11:11 in the third period.

Pensacola's penalty kill excelled, as the Ice Flyers gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Pensacola stifled Mississippi RiverKings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Ice Flyers relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Ryan Salvis, Ron Cramer and Chong took 18 of the team's 34 shots.

Pensacola also got points from Chong, who also had one goal and one assist. Justin MacDonald also scored for Pensacola. Other players who recorded assists for Pensacola were Tyler Soehner, who had one.

Mississippi RiverKings relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Harrington, Todd Hosmer and Matt Whitehead took 18 of the team's 33 shots.

Mississippi RiverKings was helped by Mike MacDonald, who grabbed one goal. MacDonald scored 15:40 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Hosmer provided the assist. In addition, Mississippi RiverKings received assists from Matt Suderman, Ian Finnerty, and Marlon Gardner, who each chipped in one.

Ross MacKinnon rejected 31 shots on goal for Pensacola. The Ice Flyers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Mississippi RiverKings' David Wilson stopped 31 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Mississippi RiverKings incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
