Louisiana downs Augusta, 6-3

The Louisiana IceGators won 6-3 over the Augusta RiverHawks.

Louisiana found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The IceGators have scored at the pace of 3.2 goals per game during the current campaign. Louisiana put 34 shots on net during the contest, more than the 23.3 it averages per game.

The IceGators were led by Tyler Lyon, who dished out four assists.

Augusta racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with nine minors and two majors for 28 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 21.0 minutes per game the RiverHawks had been spending in the box. By firing 26 shots on goal, Augusta exceeded the 18.5 shots it averages per game this year.

The RiverHawks were led by Myles McCauley, who grabbed two goals and one assist. McCauley scored the first of his two goals at 19:18 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Louisiana. Casey Mignone provided the assist. McCauley's next tally made the score 4-2 Louisiana with 15:51 left in the third period. Augusta also got a goal from Jason Price as well. Other players who recorded assists for Augusta were Michael Switzer, who had one.

Jesse Kallechy made six saves before being replaced by Riley Gill, who took the win and made 17 saves. Louisiana totaled 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 3-for-7 on the power play. Robbie Moss took the loss and made 13 saves before being replaced by Nick Niedert who made 15 saves. Augusta registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
