Salvis' big game bests Louisiana in 5-2 Pensacola win

Ryan Salvis had two goals and two assists to lead the Pensacola Ice Flyers to a 5-2 victory over the Louisiana IceGators.

Salvis scored at 12:10 into the second period to make the score 2-2 and again while 12:57 into the second to make the score 3-2 Pensacola.

The 33 shots that Pensacola put on net surpassed the Ice Flyers' average of 19.3 shots per game this season.

Pensacola also got points from Jordan Chong, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Ryan Raven, who also finished with two goals and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Pensacola were Ross MacKinnon, Kevin Kozlowski, and Jeremiah Ketts, who contributed one a piece.

Louisiana stifled Pensacola's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The IceGators put 30 shots on net during the contest, more than the 22.8 they average per game.

Louisiana was helped by Matt Lawrance, who tallied one goal. Lawrance scored 2:26 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Louisiana. Jordan Foreman assisted on the tally. Louisiana also got a goal from Robert Short as well. In addition, Louisiana received assists from Josh Duplantis, Jeremey Boyer, and Matthew Robertson, who each chipped in one.

MacKinnon recorded 28 saves for the Ice Flyers. Pensacola totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play. Riley Gill made 28 saves for the IceGators on 32 shots. Louisiana totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
