Pensacola vanquishes Louisiana in shootout, 2-1 (2-1 SO)

Tyler Soehner netted the deciding goal for the Pensacola Ice Flyers in the shootout as Ice Flyers prevailed over the Louisiana IceGators, 2-1 (2-1 SO).

The shootout lasted for 24 attempts between the teams. Louisiana's shootout goal was scored by Jordan Foreman. In addition to the clincher, Pensacola got a shootout goal from Ron Cramer.

The IceGators were stymied by the Ice Flyers netminder Ross MacKinnon, who stopped 43 shots during the victory. MacKinnon managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.85 prior to the game.

Pensacola stifled Louisiana's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Ice Flyers put 33 shots on net during the contest, more than the 21.9 they average per game.

Pensacola was helped by Ryan Salvis, who had one goal. Salvis scored 14:20 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pensacola. Cramer picked up the assist. In addition, Pensacola received assists from Leo Thomas, who had one.

The IceGators' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Pensacola power plays. Louisiana did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The IceGators put an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game. Louisiana's offense rang up 44 shots on the Ice Flyers' net.

The IceGators were led by Cody Zubko, who scored the team's only goal. Zubko scored 1:46 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Shawn McNeil provided the assist.

Pensacola ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Riley Gill rejected 31 shots on goal for Louisiana. The IceGators totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play.
