Augusta squeaks by Knoxville, 3-2

The game between the Augusta RiverHawks and the Knoxville Ice Bears was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Augusta emerged with a 3-2 win.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Casey Mignone secured the win for the RiverHawks with a goal in the third period.

Augusta was led by Mignone, who had one goal. Mignone scored 14:37 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Augusta. Matt Auffrey assisted on the tally.

The RiverHawks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Augusta's offense was clicking better than usual and put 30 shots on goal during the game, better than the 18.2 shots per game it averages.

Augusta also got a goal from Jason Price as well. More assists for Augusta came via Drew Baker, Dennis Sicard, Taylor Larsen, Alex Morton, and Marcus Pryde, who each chipped in one.

Knoxville was led by Dan Bremner, who tallied one goal and one assist. Bremner scored 12:27 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Nate Peterson picked up the assist. Peter Neal also scored for Knoxville. Other players who recorded assists for Knoxville were Tyler Fernandez and Peter Skoggard, who contributed one a piece.

Robbie Moss recorded 27 saves for the RiverHawks. Augusta incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Ice Bears' Skoggard stopped 27 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Knoxville incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
