Mississippi Surge downs Fayetteville in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

Mississippi Surge's Jeff Grant scored 28 seconds into overtime to beat the Fayetteville FireAntz, 3-2 (OT).

Mississippi Surge was sparked by Grant, who grabbed one goal and one assist.

Mississippi Surge excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Mississippi Surge's offense was clicking better than usual and put 24 shots on goal during the game, better than the 18.5 shots per game it averages.

Mississippi Surge also got a goal from Kyle Kudroch as well. In addition, Mississippi Surge received assists from Trent Bonnett, Branden Kosolofsky, and BJ Crum, who contributed one a piece.

By firing 36 shots on goal, Fayetteville exceeded the 28.0 shots it averages per game this year.

The FireAntz were helped by Kyle McNeil, who finished with one goal. McNeil scored 13:26 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Josh McQuade assisted on the tally. Brian Elser also scored for Fayetteville. More assists for Fayetteville came via Brock Sawyer, Brandon Richardson, and Kyle Frieday, who each chipped in one.

Dan Clark made 34 saves for Mississippi Surge on 36 shots. Mississippi Surge totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. Fayetteville's Kyle Rank stopped 21 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The FireAntz ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major.
