Louisiana downs Huntsville in overtime, 1-0 (OT)

Jeremey Boyer gave the Louisiana IceGators a 1-0 (OT) victory over the Huntsville Havoc when he scored 2:30 into the extra period.

Louisiana was boosted by Riley Gill, who turned in a shutout with 41 saves. The solid play of Gill will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.31.

The the IceGators penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled eight minors and two majors for 56 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 20.0 minutes per game Louisiana had been spending in the box. The IceGators put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Huntsville to score on any of its five power plays. Louisiana could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The IceGators put an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game. Louisiana featured an improved defense during the game. The IceGators gives up 2.7 goals on average per game. By firing 27 shots on goal, Louisiana exceeded the 20.7 shots it averages per game this year.

In addition, Louisiana received assists from Kirk Byczynski, who had one.

The Havoc were often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and two majors for 54 minutes in penalty time. Huntsville surpassed its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game. The Havoc excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Huntsville did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Havoc average 2.3 goals per game. Huntsville's offense rang up 41 shots on the IceGators' net.

The Havoc were led by Ian Boots, who took seven shots.

Dan McWhinney rejected 26 shots on goal for Huntsville.
