Gaul's hat trick boosts Mississippi RiverKings over Huntsville, 6-3

The Huntsville Havoc could not stop Mississippi RiverKings' Patrick Gaul, who tallied a hat trick in a 6-3 win.

Gaul notched his first tally 3:53 into the second period. He then added goals at 10:30 into the second and at 11:20 into the third.

Mississippi RiverKings' penalty kill excelled, as Mississippi RiverKings gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

Mississippi RiverKings found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Mississippi RiverKings averages 2.9 goals per contest. Mississippi RiverKings capitalized on Huntsville's penalties, netting two goals while skating with a man advantage. Mississippi RiverKings relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Gaul, Todd Hosmer and Andrew Randazzo took 15 of the team's 28 shots.

Mississippi RiverKings also got points from Steven Kaunisto, who also registered one goal and two assists and Paul Lee, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Nick Walsh also scored for Mississippi RiverKings. More assists for Mississippi RiverKings came via Ian Finnerty, Matt Harrington, Tyler Sheldrake, and Matt Whitehead, who contributed one a piece.

The Havoc put 36 shots on net during the contest, more than the 17.3 they average per game.

Huntsville was helped by Tyler Noseworthy, who finished with one goal. Noseworthy scored 4:19 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Mississippi RiverKings. Stuart Stefan assisted on the tally. Huntsville additionally got points from Aaron McGill, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Huntsville also got a goal from Kyle Laughlin as well. In addition, Huntsville received assists from Brett Liscomb and Ian Boots, who each chipped in one.

David Wilson rejected 33 shots on goal for Mississippi RiverKings. Mississippi RiverKings incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Dan McWhinney recorded 22 saves for the Havoc. Huntsville incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
