The Knoxville Ice Bears pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over Mississippi Surge on a clutch goal by Tyler Fernandez. Fernandez had two goals to lead Knoxville to victory. Fernandez found the back of the net 12:59 into the second period to make the score 2-2 and again while on the power play 1:01 into the fourth to make the score 3-2 Knoxville. Knoxville also got a goal from Shaun Arvai as well. In addition, Knoxville received assists from Mark Van Vliet, Eric Satim, Jon Higgins, Matt Pierce, Zach Tatrn, and Berkley Scott, who each chipped in one. Mississippi Surge put 23 shots on net during the contest, more than the 20.7 it averages per game. Mississippi Surge was led by Tommy Lange, who registered two goals. Lange scored the first of his two goals at 12:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mississippi Surge. Kyle VanderMale assisted on the tally.
