The Knoxville Ice Bears pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over Mississippi Surge on a clutch goal by Tyler Fernandez.

Fernandez had two goals to lead Knoxville to victory. Fernandez found the back of the net 12:59 into the second period to make the score 2-2 and again while on the power play 1:01 into the fourth to make the score 3-2 Knoxville.

Knoxville also got a goal from Shaun Arvai as well. In addition, Knoxville received assists from Mark Van Vliet, Eric Satim, Jon Higgins, Matt Pierce, Zach Tatrn, and Berkley Scott, who each chipped in one.

Mississippi Surge put 23 shots on net during the contest, more than the 20.7 it averages per game.

Mississippi Surge was led by Tommy Lange, who registered two goals. Lange scored the first of his two goals at 12:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mississippi Surge. Kyle VanderMale assisted on the tally. Lange's next tally made the score 2-1 Mississippi Surge with 11:19 left in the second period. Mississippi Surge had gotten the advantage when the Ice Bears' Arvai was sent off for tripping. Joe Harcharik picked up the assist. More assists for Mississippi Surge came via Jeff Grant, who had one.

Connor Toomey made 21 saves for Knoxville on 23 shots. The Ice Bears totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Dan Clark recorded 27 saves for Mississippi Surge. Mississippi Surge totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play.
